one month residency grants
The Künstlerhaus Lukas offers artists from the fields of the visual arts, literature, composition and dance/performance the opportunity to exclusively concentrate on their work for a whole month. This one-month stay supports them in developing or continuing the proposals they have submitted, in order to complete an intensive period of artistic work away from the distractions of everyday professional or family life. Our scholarship recipients truly appreciate the peace, the scenic surroundings and the exchange with colleagues from various artistic domains and countries.
With these scholarships, we also intend to strengthen interdisciplinary and intergenerational work. Age is not the deciding factor for awarding these scholarships, the main focus lies on exceptional artistic work.
In addition to the residency itself, the scholarship also offers artists opportunities to present their work extensively to the public. As part of this, the monthly open day held at the Künstlerhaus allows all scholarship recipients to present their works to an enthusiastic audience, either in their studios or at readings, concerts, performances etc.
Since 2009 the entire exhibition program of the ►Neues Kunsthaus has focused on the thematic projects of our scholarship recipients, which are designed by curators. Furthermore, the Künstlerhaus Lukas cooperates with selected partners from across the region, such as the Kunstmuseum Ahrenshoop, the Nationalpark Vorpommersche Boddenküste, the Fischlandhaus Wustrow as well as partners from the international exchange program that mainly focuses on northern Europe.
